National Airport …..Just a Little over the line….

I know… I Know. This has nothing to do with Maryland. But whenever you travel by Air out of Baltimore, the conversation is always ” do you fly out of Baltimore (BWI – Marshall), Dulles or National ( Reagan) “.  I recently had to fly out of Reagan, and remembered the airport back in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I was surprised how many old postcards I was able to find on a quick search, and figured I’d share them. Airport_134_WashingtonNationalAirport_8

I have no idea why the blacktop is purple, but it makes for a neat postcard. The place sure looks empty , and there are even trees where the planes would sit. I can only imagine how long that lasted.

Nice interior shot of the airport. While there has been a lot of renovation over the years, one of the sections of the airport interior still looks much like this.

Back in the 1990’s, there was a neat little park on the North side of the Airport, where you could park and have the planes travel over you as they landed. I’m not sure if that park is still around.

The rest of the postcards are of the general airport building…..Enjoy !
